Cathy Lane Adkins was born November 18, 1951 to Jane and Isaac Lane at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital. In her school years Cathy enjoyed playing several sports, but volleyball was her favorite. Aside from sports, education was always her priority. Graduating from John Wanamaker Jr High and Kensington High, she then went on to Philadelphia Community College and Temple University, later returning to teach at John Wanamaker.
Cathy loved her children more than anything, especially her only boy Victor. He was the light of her life and she made sure everyone knew it. Those girls of hers gave her a run for her money. But they have so much of her in them, she wouldn’t have it any other way. She worked hard to instill education, confidence, and discipline in them. Cathy spent majority of her years with her life partner, John aka Blossom. Their relationship was so unique, but it worked for them. She loved her “Johnny.” She would fuss at him all day long and then turn around and say “I love you Johnny.” Cathy was well loved and respected wherever she went. She was so loving and caring, she touched the lives of everyone she knew. Whether you needed a place to stay, some food to eat, or just a listening ear, Cathy welcomed all with open arms. She was famous for her delicious fried chicken. Whenever she cooked, everyone always came running for that chicken. Playing cards, going to the casino, and hanging with her friends were some of her favorite pastimes.
Cathy transitioned peacefully on Friday June 7, 2019. Preceding her in death is her father Isaac, mother Jane, and her nephew Dawann. She leaves to cherish her memories her life partner, John (Blossom); her children Victor, Ashley, and Aleeyah; grandson Sharif; her sister Cynthia; nephew Troy; niece Terika, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
