Rita Lewis Baker Obituary

Rita (Rheda) Mae Baker Lewis, the daughter of the late William Lewis and Rheda Mae Lewis, was born on April 28, 1943, in Columbia County, North Carolina.  Rita was one of 11 children, three of whom preceded her in death.  She departed this life on July 20, 2019 and entered eternal rest early in the morning.

She was educated in the Columbia County public school system. Rita was blessed many fulfilling jobs and retired from the Baptist Home of Philadelphia. She was very friendly and enjoyed helping people any chance she got.  There was nothing Rita would do for anyone at any given time.  She was so freed hearted and had a beautiful spirit.

Rita met the love of her life Harry Baker, her best friend and the union was made in Heaven.  They loved to dance and entertain people in their home. Rita enjoyed going to the Flea Market and collect mirrors, watches, jewelry and other trinkets.  She also loved giving them away and she knew their taste.  Rita was an animal lover, Boobie their dog was the size of a bear, but her true Love was her cat Lucky.  Lucky was her baby and he will wake her up every morning for their breakfast.  He was her comfort at Harry went Home to Glory.  Rita had a passion for children, she would always stop, smile and tell them how pretty they were.

Rita was preceded in death by her siblings: William Lewis, Jr., Flossy Lennon, and Valerie Yates.

Rita leaves to cherish many precious and beautiful memories: also to celebrate her life`; sisters, Maggie Griffin, Carolyn Wesley, Dorothy Cokley, Alice Moore, Patricia Moore, Sheila Johnson, and Tina George; step-children: Diane Baker, Deborah B.B.H. Temple, Michele Baker, Faye A. B. Massy, Teal K. Ellington, Dorothea B. Matthews, and Harry Baker, Jr., as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
